Billboard is reporting that the Malaysian government has reversed a previous decision and is now allowing Muslims to attend a Sept. 25 Black Eyed Peas show. The ban had reportedly been imposed because the concert is being sponsored by Guinness which, while being a tasty beverage, contains alcohol and is forbidden from organizing concerts in Malaysia.
A victory for secularism in a nation where Muslims are governed by strict Shariah law; a victory for those who choose freedom over oppression; or, in the words of the Peas themselves: “My hump. My hump, my hump, my hump. My lovely little lumps.”
Let’s face it. Everyone is bound to disappoint you at some point. No one is perfect. For example, I have forgotten my mother’s birthday every year for about 20 years in a row. I’m at the point where, whenever I talk to her, I wish her a happy birthday just in case.
